Ronco Cliona's vineyards nestle in the hills of Eastern Friuli at Pinzano Al Tagliamento in Pordenone province. They were planted in 1992 with the objective of recreating the famous wines made from native vines for which Friuli was once famous, which formed an important part of the economy during the rule of the Savorgnon dynasty (1352-1810).

The vines planted were once widespread in the commune of Pinzano but following the ravages of phyloxera in the 19th century, their use gradually dwindled to the verge of extinction as higher yielding, earlier maturing, international varieties are planted. The native vines such as Piculit Neri, Ucelut, Sciaglin. were famed for their intense bouquet and perfume. These characteristics partly derive from the free draining soils found in Pinzano which are rich in calcium and magnesium, elements that confer finess and elegance to wine as well as the microclimate which boasts mountain breezes from the Alps in the spring and summer helping to develop healthy, mature grapes with special aromas.

The Maley family have dedicated the last 10 years to rebuilding the reputation of these unique wines with particular attention to the continuous improvement of the vines and hence grape quality and the wine making. A growing body of appreciative customers from Shanghai to Siena, Tokyo to Torino are testament to our work.

FRIULI: THE ANCIENT LAND OF WINE AND CULTURE

Pinzano is a typical country hamlet set in the rolling foothills of the Alps. Located on an ancient pilgrims trail Pinzano is rich in ecclesiastical art. Some of the wonderful fresco 'San Sabestian's Martyndom' and the 'La Madonna di Pinzano' are found here.

Ever since the Romans populated Friuli around AD50, vines have been cultivated for wine. The ancient heritage of winemaking has built a longstanding reputation for Friuli for wines such as Ucelut (reputedly served to the Cardinals at the Council of Trent in 16th century) and other native vines of the area.

FRIULI: 意大利葡萄酒文化的发源地

Pinzano 是位於意大利东北部著名的阿尔卑斯山脈腳下的一个古老乡村。因为 Pinzano 是在古代朝圣参拜必经路途上,所以沿途可见到富有宗教历史文化遗跡。例如在当地教堂建筑物里,还保留有名古代壁画 'San Sabestian's Martyndom' 及 'La Madonna di Pinzano'。

PICULIT NERI

This wine has a deep ruby red colour with flecks of violet.

Bouquet: vinous, intense and delicate, with a noticeable hint of vanilla and chestnut flowers. After about a year, the bouquet assumes a marked hint of charcoal.

Taste: elegant, supple and highly pleasing; the taste is unusually persistent and gives rise to constantly changing sensations. Full-bodied, well-balanced, and with a considerable acidity and alcohol content. This wine is worthy of careful tasting in order to discover its full flavour. Its fullest fragrance can be appreciated only after a year.
Though red, Piculit Neri is delicious by itself to accompany a pleasing moment of relaxation. At the table, it is ideal with red meats, game and mature cheese.

Serving temperature: 16 - 18°.

百利干红葡萄酒 (PICULIT NERI)

这种葡萄酒为深红玉色,加紫色斑鲇。

酒香:酒体嬌嫩,带有云尼拿及粟子香味。一年后有明显炭香味道。

酒味:优雅,柔软,怡人。味道持久,带来不同口感。浓质均衡,酸度及酒精度较高。应仔细品尝。一年后香气会更馥郁。
适宜配合红肉、野味及乳酪一起饮用。

品尝温度: 16 – 18 度

FORGIARIN

A wine with a ruby red colour and noticeable flecks of whitish violet. After a year, the colour turns to brick-red and remains unaltered over the years.

Bouquet: vinous, intense, slightly fruity, with marked overtones of peat, noble wood, toasted almonds and sometimes with a hint of moss.

Taste: supple, with a fine balance between alcohol content, acidity and tannin. Elegant and pleasing but hard to judge, because this is a wine whose character remains to be discovered. Ideally suited to white meat, boiled meat, lighter-flavoured red meat, roast meat with light flavoured sauces, and poultry, especially duck and guinea fowl. In simple terms, ideal with game, boar, pork and roast meat.

Serving temperature: 16 - 18°.

佳莲干红葡萄酒 (FORGIARIN)

这种葡萄酒为红玉色,加紫白色斑点。一年后葡萄酒转为砖红色而一直保持顏色不变。

酒香:酒体轻,以果味为主,带有杏仁,青苔的香味。

酒味:柔软的,保持酒精度,酸度及单寧酸平衡,优雅怡人,容易入口。
最适宜配搭白肉、清淡红肉、或配以淡味献汁、家禽肉类,如鸭、珠鸡等。

品尝温度: 16 – 18 度

 

SCIAGLIN

This wine has a straw colour whose intensity varies from year to year, with slight greenish glints which tend to disappear after a few years.

Bouquet: intensely fruity, delicate and soft. Slightly aromatic, reminiscent of elderberry flowers, yellow peppers and acacia flowers. A pleasing and interesting blend of aromas.

Taste: full-bodied, well-structured, balanced and harmonius in spite of its acidity. Lightly tannic with a persistent taste and an aroma which lingers pleasantly on the palate.
This is the ideal wine for light hors d?oeuvres, pasta and rice, soups, egg and fish dishes, risotto and local country cooking. Excellent also as an aperitif.

Serving temperature: 10 -12°.

加蓮白葡萄酒(SCIAGLIN)

這種葡萄酒為淡黃色。顏色會每年轉變,由閃淺綠色而逐漸轉淡。

酒香:重果汁味,嬌嫩柔軟。芳香,帶有草莓、黃椒及槐花的香氣。

酒味:濃質,均衡,和諧,酸度高。輕度單寧酸,味道持久。
最適宜配合頭盤前菜、意粉、飯、蛋及海鮮類食品。最好是作餐前酒。

品嘗温度: 10 – 12 度

UCELUT

A straw-coloured wine sometimes with a greenish glint. Limpid and perfectly clear.

Bouquet: intensely fruity, typical of this type of grape, and highlighted by its naturally-high sugar content. The bouquet recalls the perfume of the acacia flower, of a beehive brimming with honey, frequently reminiscent of wild flowers.

Taste: full-bodied, with an excellent structure and a strong personality. Well-balanced in spite of its high sugar content. Persistent rich flavour, supple and velvety, with a lingering taste that reflects its bouquet.
This is a dessert wine, but is equally pleasant by itself in all social occasions. Though classed as a dessert wine, Ucelut is most suited to desserts with a less rich flavour. Excellent served cold as an aperitif or with a silver of mature cheese and honey. A wine to enjoy for its own sake, while chatting with friends or simply meditating.

Serving temperature: 8 ??10°.

优施白葡萄酒(UCELUT)

这种葡萄酒为加闪綠浅黃色。澄澈清透。

酒香:重果汁味是这葡萄酒的特色,尤其是它的自然糖成份高。带有槐花香,像蜜蜂房佈满蜜糖,发出野花芳香。

酒味:浓质,有质感及独突性格。均衡,糖份高。浓郁,柔软如丝绒,持久味道反影出它的酒香。
这是餐尾酒,但也适合在社交场合单独饮用。最适宜冻饮作餐前酒或配以少许蜜糖或乳酪。宜配生果或不太浓郁甜品。
